Abstract
This study seeks to explore the application of humanistic theory and motivation theory in enhancing the learning motivation of students from broken home families through the lens of Islamic perspectives, focusing on a case study involving 8th-grade students at MTs Al-Khoeriyah, Cilawu-Garut. Humanistic theory, as formulated by Maslow and Rogers, underscores the significance of fulfilling basic needs and achieving self-actualization, while motivation theory addresses both intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors. This qualitative research employed methods such as observations, interviews, and questionnaires targeting students and teachers. The findings reveal that adopting a humanistic-based approach fosters a supportive learning environment, thereby boosting students’ confidence and participation. Furthermore, the interplay between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation was found to exert a substantial positive influence on learning outcomes. Despite these benefits, key challenges include maintaining consistent emotional support and addressing resource limitations. The study recommends initiatives such as teacher training programs, collaboration with school counselors, and the establishment of a sustainable reward system. This research provides practical insights for educational institutions in managing and supporting students from broken home backgrounds.
