Tafsir Ekologis Ibnu Kaṡīr terhadap Kerusakan Alam: Kajian Maqāṣid al-Syarī’ah pada Isu Deforestasi

Abstract
This study aims to analyze Ibn Kathir's interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an related to environmental damage, especially the concepts of fasād, ihlāk al-ḥarṡ wa al-nasl, and verses with ecological nuances. The research method used is qualitative with a literature study approach and thematic analysis (mauḍū’ī) combined with the tafsir maqāṣidī approach to contextualize the verses to the phenomenon of modern deforestation. The results of the study show that Ibn Kathir's ecological interpretation of the verses of the Qur'an such as QS. ar-Rūm [30]: 41, al-Baqarah [2]: 205, and others deeply reveal the concepts of fasād (damage) and ihlāk al-ard wa al-nasl (destruction of plants and offspring) as a strict prohibition against environmental degradation, which is very relevant to the phenomenon of modern deforestation in Indonesia. This study strengthens Islamic ecotheology as a normative basis for addressing deforestation through sustainable forest management, reforestation, strict law enforcement, and increasing public awareness in order to realize the welfare of the people.
