Abstract
Academic pressure is one of the main issues faced by eleventh-grade students at State Senior High School 1 Garut. Based on initial observations and data, 75% of the students reported feeling burdened by academic pressure. This study aims to examine and test the effectiveness of group counseling services using cognitive restructuring techniques in reducing academic pressure among SMAN 1 Garut students. The research method employed is a quantitative approach with a one group pretest posttest design. The subjects of the study were students who experienced high levels of academic pressure based on pretest results. The intervention was delivered through group counseling sessions using cognitive restructuring techniques, aimed at helping students recognize and identify negative thought patterns and replace them with more positive ones. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and an academic pressure scale questionnaire before and after the intervention, and analyzed using the paired t-test statistical test to measure the effectiveness of cognitive restructuring techniques in reducing academic pressure. The research results show that the paired t-test obtained a value of 0.002 < 0.05, indicating that group counseling with cognitive restructuring techniques is effective in reducing academic pressure for eleventh-grade students at SMAN 1 Garut. This study provides empirical evidence on the effectiveness of cognitive restructuring techniques in reducing academic pressure, which can be applied in schools to support students' psychological well-being.
