Abstract

This paper examines the work of Karīmah al-Marwaziyyah, a 5th-century AH muhadditsah who played a central role in the narration of Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī. Through the method of literature study, this study found that although women experienced decadence in the history of hadith narration, figures such as Karīmah attested to the sustainability of women's intellectual roles in the discipline of hadith. Karīmah is widely known in the sanad network and has 579 narrations spread across the seven books of Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī. He obtained the sanad from Abu al-Haitsam, a direct disciple of Imam al-Bukhari, and his narrations are very influential, including the use by Ibn Hajar al-Asqalāni in Fath al-Bārī.
