Abstract

This article explores a prophetic tradition (ḥadīth) of Prophet Muhammad SAW that firmly condemns the betrayal of public trust, as narrated in ḥadīth no. 215 in Riyāḍuṣ Ṣāliḥīn. The study aims to analyze the ḥadīth from two main aspects: takhrīj (verification of the chain of transmission and classification of authenticity) and syarḥ (explanatory commentary), while also examining its relevance to contemporary anti-corruption efforts. Employing a qualitative method with a library research approach, the study finds that the ḥadīth is authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) and embodies fundamental ethical values such as honesty, transparency, accountability, and trustworthiness. These values align with and enrich modern anti-corruption frameworks. The analysis concludes that integrating Islamic ethical principles with contemporary legal systems offers a strategic foundation for establishing clean, just, and integrity-based governance structures.
